This morning, just before 11:00 AM, some Salem Fiber customers may have experienced slowdowns when trying to access Google services (like Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, etc.).
The issue was not a complete internet outage, and services like Cloudflare, Facebook, and most other websites remained unaffected. The slowdown was due to a routing issue with one of our upstream internet providers, Cogent, which was impacting traffic going westbound, including connections to Google.
As soon as we detected the issue, our team, working closely with SFCN (our upstream network partner), quickly rerouted traffic through an alternate provider, Zayo. This switch resolved the problem almost immediately, and things returned to normal by 11:13 AM.
We're continuing to monitor the situation, and SFCN is working with Cogent to determine why this issue keeps happening.
We appreciate your patience and understanding and as always, thank you for being part of Salem Fiber!

My mistake! Must've been something odd on my end then.
